Autumn Writing Retreat

Have you always wanted to write a book, poem, or memoir? Perhaps you're halfway through an essay but can't find the time to finish it off. This retreat is designed for people wishing to learn a bit about the craft of writing, as well as spend some time focused on a particular writing project. Sister Ev director Eddie O'Connor will lead this popular retreat, using the skills he developed during the Masters of Writing he completed in 2019. 

When: Friday, June 3 (7:00 pm) - Sunday, June 5 (1:00 pm)

Cost: $220 (if you'd like to come but the cost is prohibitive, please get in touch as we may be able to assist). 

Payment: To register book a 'ticket' on the link below. You'll be invoiced for a $60 deposit after registering, with the rest due closer to the time of the retreat

About the host: Edward O’Connor has been a contemplative and writer all his life, he’s only just realised it. In 2019 he completed a Master’s Degree in Writing at the University of Canterbury, where he completed a screenplay, poems, short stories, and a series of narrative essays on contemplative Christianity. He is the Director of Sister Eveleen House where he runs contemplative prayer and meditation three times a day. His particular interest is how we can reanimate old forms of writing and spirituality for the modern world.

About the Sister Eveleen Retreat House: Sister Eveleen Retreat House (SERH) is house of spiritual help and prayer nestled among the native trees on Scarborough Hill. It is owned by the Anglican Diocese but is run ecumenically. It was bequeathed to the church by Sister Eveleen in 1939. Please note that there is no parking on Whitewash Head Road. You will need to park down by the waterfront and walk to the house. Assistance can be provided if required.
