Church Leaders' Silent Retreat

Come join Donald Scott and SERH Director Eddie O'Connor for this weekend silent retreat dedicated to people working in church leadership/ministry positions. It's so easy for those of us working in ministry to forget about our own needs and spiritual lives. This retreat is an opportunity to redress the balance, to switch off our phones, and listen to what the Spirit is saying to us. Every day of this retreat will feature sessions run by Donald/Eddie, shared meals, a rhythm of contemplative prayer, and plenty of time to rest, pray, and reflect. 

To register please book a 'ticket' below. You'll be invoiced for a $60 deposit after registration.  The full price of the retreat will be due closer to the time of the retreat (ignore the fact that it says the cost is $0).

About the facilitators:

Donald Scott: Born and raised in the remote hills of Southern Hawkes Bay, Donald spent his early years as a Farmer, shearer, and sports enthusiast. A transforming encounter with Christ changed the direction of his life, eventually moving into a pastoral role at a local Dannevirke church before he and his wife Janice, along with their 4 boys, relocated to Christchurch in 2000. They led Northcity church for 20 years before Donald transitioned into a wider ministry across the body of Christ, with a focus on coming alongside leaders in support and spiritual direction. Seeking to find Christ as our Source, as the foundation for ministry and the whole of life, to live and serve from this place of peace and rest is a renewed sense of calling at this time

Eddie O'Connor:  Eddie is the Director of Sister Eveleen House. He is in his third year as director and currently undergoing formation in Spiritual Direction in the tradition of St Ignatius. Eddie is passionate about communicating the contemplative path of Christianity to a modern audience. In 2020, he completed a Masters of Writing at the University of Canterbury and considers writing his main vacation alongside his Spiritual Direction practice. 

About Sister Eveleen Retreat House: Sister Eveleen Retreat House (SERH) is a spiritual haven nestled among the native trees on Scarborough Hill. It is owned by the Anglican Diocese but is run ecumenically. It was bequeathed to the church by Sister Eveleen who asked for it to be used as a 'house of spiritual help and prayer.' Please note that there is no parking on Whitewash Head Road. You will need to park down by the waterfront and walk to the house. Assistance can be provided if required.
