Exploring the Compass of the Heart: Weekend Silent Retreat

Join Spiritual Director Jill Montgomery and SERH Director Eddie O'Connor for a silent retreat aimed at opening a space in our hearts. In silence, we become present to the movement and seasons of the Spirit and see how we can navigate into greater fullness in our lives. This retreat will suit anyone looking to explore God's movement in their lives in a gentle, silent setting. Both Jill and Eddie have undergone formation in the tradition of St Ignatius of Loyola and will be drawing on a variety of sources from this tradition. This retreat will be held in full silence and run from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. Cost includes homecooked meals, a regular rhythm of contemplative prayer, daily teaching, and spiritual direction.

When:  Friday, March 3, 7 pm - Sunday, March 5, 1:30 pm (approx).

Cost: $240 (if you'd like to come but the cost is prohibitive, please get in touch as we may be able to bring the cost down for you).

About the Facilitators:

Jill Montgomery is a Spiritual Director in the tradition of St Ignatius of Loyola. She is particularly interested in God's deepening work at all levels of our life and how we can attend to the movement of the Spirit within our souls. Jill draws inspiration from a wide range of thinkers and teachers, from medieval mystics to more contemporary sources such as James Finlay and Thomas Merton. 

Eddie O'Connor is the Director of Sister Eveleen Retreat House. He has been in his role for three years and facilitated or contributed to nearly 30 retreats during that time. Eddie is a Spiritual Director in the tradition of St Ignatius. His passion is reimagining the monastic and ancient practices of Christian spirituality in a way modern people can connect with. When Eddie is not running retreats he can usually be found writing, and is currently working on an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius.

About Sister Eveleen Retreat House: Sister Eveleen Retreat House (SERH) is a Christian retreat centre nestled among the native trees on Scarborough Hill, Christchurch. It is owned by the Anglican Diocese but is run ecumenically. It was bequeathed to the church by Sister Eveleen in 1939. 

Please note that there is no parking on Whitewash Head Road. You will need to park down by the waterfront and walk to the house. Assistance can be provided if required.
