Greater Silence: 7-Day Silent Retreat

Join SERH director Eddie O'Connor and spiritual director Donald Scott for the first 7-Day silent retreat of 2023. This is a retreat without an agenda, an open space for you to connect with God, who speaks to us in silence. The week will center around the practice of Centering Prayer, and how the contemplative path is one that transforms our hearts. Each retreatant will receive daily spiritual direction and nutritious, home-cooked meals. We will also follow SERH's rhythm of liturgy and contemplative prayer. This retreat is perfect for anybody wishing to dive deeper into the contemplative Christian path, or for those looking for a simple and gentle week of silent prayer and spiritual direction. 

When:  Sunday, Feb 12, 5 pm - Sat Feb 18, 2 pm 

Cost: $650 (if you'd like to come but the cost is prohibitive, please get in touch as we may be able to bring the cost down for you).

About the Facilitators:

Eddie O'Connor is the Director of Sister Eveleen Retreat House. He has been in his role for three years and facilitated or contributed to nearly 30 retreats during that time. Eddie is a Spiritual Director in the tradition of St Ignatius with a passion for reimagining the monastic and ancient practices of Christian spirituality in a way modern people can connect with. When Eddie is not running retreats he can usually be found writing, and is currently working on an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius. 

Donald Scott: Born and raised in the remote hills of Southern Hawkes Bay, Donald spent his early years as a Farmer, shearer, and sports enthusiast. A transforming encounter with Christ changed the direction of his life, eventually moving into a pastoral role at a local Dannevirke church before he and his wife Janice, along with their 4 boys, relocated to Christchurch in 2000. They led Northcity church for 20 years before Donald transitioned into a wider ministry across the body of Christ, with a focus on coming alongside leaders in support and spiritual direction. Seeking to find Christ as our Source, as the foundation for ministry and the whole of life, to live and serve from this place of peace and rest is a renewed sense of calling at this time
