Mid-Winter Christmas Silent Retreat

Come and join Sr Eveleen House for a Christmas celebration in the season it was intended. This silent retreat will focus on participation in the Christmas story and how the birth of Christ impacts our spiritual lives. This weekend will find a balance between guided contemplative and creative activities, with extended periods of individual reflection. A great way to engage in the miracle of the birth of Christ away from all the seasonal and commercial pressures this important festival normally contends with. Your hosts will be SERH Director Eddie O'Connor and Spiritual Director Alumine Andrew.

When: Friday, June 17 (7:00 pm) - Sunday, June 19 (1:00 pm)

Cost: $220 (if you'd like to come but the cost is prohibitive, please get in touch as we may be able to assist).

Payment: To register book a 'ticket' on the link below. You'll be invoiced for a $60 deposit after registering, with the rest due closer to the time of the retreat

About the hosts

Eddie O’Connor is the director of Sister Eveleen House. He is currently undergoing formation as a Spiritual Director in the tradition of St Ignatius. In 2019, Eddie completed a Masters of Writing at the University of Canterbury, in which he wrote a screenplay, poetry, and a series of essays on contemplative Chrisitianity. Eddie is particularly interested in how ancient contemplative practices can be reimagined for the modern world and how narrative and story inform our spiritual journeys. 

Aluminé Andrew has been interested in the contemplative life for many years, and how we can be modern contemplatives! Based in Sumner for the last 20 years, she has led retreats and is a Spiritual Director. Her passion is to engage in all forms of prayer and meditation, learning and encouraging others to try out different ways to pray, and connect with God. Alumine is a photographer, pursues slow textile arts, is an avid reader and has a book review blog. Creativity is really important in her life, from cooking a meal right through to spinning wool or climbing a mountain
