Ministry Retreat Week

Sister Eveleen Retreat House (SERH) has set aside some time in April specifically to host people working in ministry. If you're involved in church leadership and looking for a chance to reflect and pray after the Easter season then why not come over to Sumner for a night (or even a week!). From Friday April 9 - Sunday April 18 we're offering accommodation, a cooked dinner, and daily spiritual direction for $135 per night (plus $10 cleaning fee). During this time we'll be hosting Heather Simpson, who specialises in spiritual direction to people in ministry. 

About SERH

SERH is a contemplative retreat environment in which many come to seek God's presence, find rest and replenishment, listen to their own heart and God's leading in their lives. SERH is set on Scarborough Hill in Sumber and overlooks Pegasus Bay in a stunning natural environment with a range of costal and beach walkways.

Heather's Profile

Heather has been offering Spiritual Direction since 2019 with the hope that people will be encouraged to take time to step back from daily life and lovingly attend to the needs of the soul. She is now officially retired, but her life has been guided by God as a Presbyterian minister and missioner, and a missionary for 21 years with SIM in Ecuador and Peru. These rich experiences taught Heather the value of stepping outside the busyness and challenges of ministry. For her this has been through quiet and contemplation, and finding spiritual direction to deepen her own relationship with God.

Heather is particularly interested in walking alongside people in ministry where the demands are sometimes heavy and continuous. She believes Spiritual Direction is an opportunity to dig into the God-soul places of our lives so that we can be refreshed.
