About the event

Seasons for Growth is educational in its nature and is based on a belief that change, loss and grief are part of life.

William Worden, a celebrated writer and therapist, noticed that people working through their grief went through similar patterns. It seemed that those who were able to process their grief completed certain milestones on their journey. He likened these steps toward healing to the four Seasons.

On this Retreat we examine Worden’s insights, and strategies, that can be helpful in processing grief and loss.

We explore how we can grow through our seasons of pain and disappointment.

While sharing our journey in a group we feel less alone and find support from others.

Through stories we will also consider how God heals our brokenness, exchanging it for hope and peace in Christ.

Your hosts:

Joanne Smith is the Seasons for Growth Coordinator at City Mission in Christchurch. She has completed a level 4 training course in counselling at Arahura Medical Centre, and also the Prayer Ministry training through Christian Renewal Association NZ.

Rick Smith is the Pastoral Care worker at Sumner-Redcliffs Anglican Church. He has completed Mental Health Coach training run by Heartspace ministries in Christchurch.

Cost: NZ$200 - The retreat is fully catered. The fees also include the "Seasons of Growth" Journal

You always have the option to arrive earlier or stay longer by booking extra nights (self-catered and guided) at Sister Eveleen. Just let us know upon registration.

Our fees are set low to encourage participation in our programme and ministry, and do not represent the true cost of the upkeep and maintenance of this wonderful historic house.

If you are able, we would welcome your additional contribution. If you would like a donation tax receipt for anything in excess of the base cost, please let us know.

On the other hand, if you'd like to attend but the cost is prohibitive, please get in touch as we may be able to assist you.
