The Desert Fathers and Mothers 7-Day Silent Retreat

Join Sister Eveleen House for a trip into the desert with this unique silent retreat focused on the early Christian monastics known as the desert fathers and mothers. This retreat will be held in full silence for 7 days, with each day focusing on the life and teachings of a particular figure from the early desert tradition of Christianity.  Retreatants will enjoy a regular rhythm of contemplative prayer, shared meals, and spiritual direction.

When:  Monday, November 14, 7 pm - Sunday, November 20, 2 pm (approx).

Cost: $650 (if you'd like to come but the cost is prohibitive, please get in touch as we may be able to bring the cost down for you).

About the Facilitators:

Eddie O'Connor is the Director of Sister Eveleen Retreat House. He has been in his role for three years and facilitated or contributed to nearly 30 retreats during that time. Eddie is currently undergoing formation as a Spiritual Director in the tradition of St Ignatius. His passion is reimagining the monastic and ancient practices of Christian spirituality in a way modern people can connect with. When Eddie is not running retreats he can usually be found writing, and is currently working on an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius. 

Aluminé Andrew has been interested in the contemplative life for many years, and how we can be modern contemplatives! Based in Sumner for the last 20 years, she has led retreats and is a Spiritual Director. Her passion is to engage in all forms of prayer and meditation, learning and encouraging others to try out different ways to pray, and connect with God. Alumine is a photographer, pursues slow textile arts, is an avid reader and has a book review blog. Creativity is really important in her life, from cooking a meal right through to spinning wool or climbing a mountain
