We are turning fundraising into funraising – all for Sister Eveleen Retreat House.
Kia ora,
As always, warm greetings from us at Sister Eveleen Retreat House.
We have been in a season rich in retreats and guests throughout winter,
with many people coming to us from all walks of life seeking peace, quiet, and rest.
a reminder to us that there is a need for places of reflection and renewal,
but also of Sister Eveleen's wisdom and foresight.
Her vision continues to serve the needs of our time,
and her ministry, thanks to so many people who support us in various ways , remains alive.
Planning for 2027 is already underway, with the first retreats now published on our website (see below), a new retreat format for those serving in Christian ministry is in the making and we are exploring the possibility of a Contemplative Residency at Sister Eveleen Retreat House. - We look forward to sharing more as these ideas take shape.
For today, however, we have a warm invitation for you, (or for others you may wish to share it with): We are turning fundraising into funraising - all for Sister Eveleen
Our goal is to raise $3,000 to support the ongoing ministry of the Retreat House while sharing an evening of laughter, community, and friendly competition. So get a team together (4-6 per team) and join us at the Brighton Beach House Cafe for a fun filled, prize heavy quiz night.
When: Thursday 15 October
Where: Brighton Beach House Café (16a Beach Road, Waimairi)
Teams: 4–6 people
Cost: $20 per person
Registration: Register your team ( 4 or 6 tickets, provide their names if you have them already) or note that you want us to put you into a team. You are registered when payment has been received - Instructions for this will follow after registration.
Numbers are limited to 90 participants
Bring cash for raffle tickets $2 each, join in the silent auction.
Come for dinner, drinks, supper, or just a cuppa.
Meals and drinks will be available for purchase.
Café doors open at 5.00pm.
Quiz runs from 6.30pm to 8.45pm.
Bar opens at 5pm – 8.45pm
Kitchen open at 5pm – 8pm
The café offers a full evening menu which can be viewed at

Sister Eveleen Retreat House is a small retreat house on Scarborough Hill, Sumner, overlooking Pegasus Bay. Sr Eveleen bequeathed this house in 1939 as a house of spiritual help and prayer. It is maintained by the Anglican Diocese, but people from all walks of faith and life are welcome. The spiritual ministry of Sister Eveleen Retreat House is rooted in Christian contemplative spirituality.
Our mission is to offer a place of stillness, prayer, hospitality, and spiritual refreshment for all who seek time with God. We welcome guests for guided and self-guided retreats, quiet days, and offer rooms for individual guests and groups to step aside from daily demands, whether for a day or overnight. ---------------------------------------- Have you heard about the Friends of Sister Eveleen Retreat House?
